Lucy’s father sold the family land and abandoned the family.  Her mother died a few years later.  8th grade





Ken’s parents vanished in a road accident on their way home from a relative’s funeral.  His uncle's wife mistreated him and a concerned neighbor brought him to Kisima.  9th grade

Viona's parents were killed in post-election tribal violence before she was one year old.  5th grade

Kevin's parents died in the 2008 post-election violence.  10th grade.

Derick was born out of wedlock.  His mother died and then when he was six his grandmother died.  6th grade
