Founded in 2016 on the remote Kenya–Tanzania border, Amua Africa Academy is the only school for miles in every direction. For hundreds of children, it’s their only chance at an education.

When we visited in July 2025, we saw five modest classrooms with hand-made desks—proof of the community’s determination to educate their kids. Parents, teachers, and neighbors celebrated this new opportunity for their children - but urgent needs remain: clean water harvesting, a safe kitchen, more classrooms, and reliable funding to serve the two daily meals that keep students focused on learning instead of hunger.
